PE & Sports
At William Byrd we carry out a diverse range of physical activities within our curriculum. Our aim is to inspire all children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physical activities.
We encourage children to become physically confident in a way which supports their health, fitness, and develops their agility, balance and coordination, both individually and with others.
We compete and engage in a wide range of physical activities across the year which helps to build on a child's character and embed values such as fairness, teamwork and respect.
With the help of the children, parents and staff, we are delighted to announce that we received the Gold Award for the School Games Mark for 2018/2019. The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools are graded against set criteria in relationship to participation, competition, the workforce and clubs.
