Bake a Story

ENTER OUR COMPETITION AND WIN A PRIZE FOR YOUR CLASS!
Who is your favourite character? What is your favourite story?
Bake a story into a cake, cupcakes or dessert and send a picture of it to your teacher by Wednesday 2 March!
The winner of Bake-a-Story will be announced in assembly on Thursday 3rd March! Let’s celebrate a scrumptious World Book Day!

Create your own reading corner at home

What theme will you go for? Space? Fairytale? Fantasy? Sci-fi?
Take a picture of you reading in it and send it to your class teacher!

Try these fun games

1. BOOKS TO MATCH YOUR MOOD
Think of different emojis and then try to name a book that would match it!

2. SCATTERGORIES!
This is a very quick and easy game to play at home! Everyone is given a designated letter, category or multiple categories and have to think of characters, books, authors, illustrators, or anything else book-themed that begins with that letter.
For example, "Name 5 characters whose names begin with A," or "Name 5 books that are a part of a series."

3. TABOO!
Taboo is a brilliant way of exploring new words. New vocabulary can be chosen from English lessons, books that you have been reading or texts explored in reading lessons. Just describe the word and ask someone to guess it! Take turns to guess the word!

4. GUESS WHO?
Stick a picture or name of a book on your forehead from a selection of cards and ask someone to describe the card for you to guess.
For this to work, you cannot see what is on the card so that you can guess it.
