Phonics Workshops
On Monday 6th, we had the first of two parent workshops for our Year 1 parents.
Our youngest Key Stage 1 children face an important DfE assessment in June, and this training was to help parents understand how we teach phonics, and make sense of the resources and documents sent home. We explored how to use these, what daily support at home looks like, and then unpicked the importance of reading for pleasure and reading with your child, rather than just hearing them read their home reading book set by their phonics teacher.
