William Byrd Reading Festival

This month we celebrated reading by having a special William Byrd Reading Festival week. During the course of the week we explored and celebrated books, comics and illustrations.

Each year group had many exciting planned activities to help children develop their love for reading. Our Reception class particularly enjoyed their class picnic with The Tiger Who Came to Tea!

We also had a special visit and workshop from Richy K. Chandler who is an illustrator, comic creator and writer. The children had an engaging lesson with the author and had the opportunity to learn some tips and tricks to help them draw like a professional before drawing their very own comic strip.

Our staff also dressed up as book characters during the week and children had to look out for them and guess what character they were. The week was a big success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
