The activities included the long jump, hurdling, football skills, sprinting,  egg and spoon races, javelin and many others.  Children also took part in competitive races on our school field and the winners were awarded with medals and bands donated generously by Asda.  Well done to all our winners and everyone who put in such a fantastic effort.

  • Year 4 Egyptian Day

    Published 05/07/19

This term Year 4 have been looking into Ancient Egyptian Life. To celebrate all things Egyptian the children spent a day doing various Egyptian activities.  children enjoyed painting life size sarcophagus, constructing paper mache pencil cases in the shape and pattern of Tutankhaman's sarcophagus, making Egyptian necklaces, making Eygptian headpieces and writing our own names using Egyptian hyroglyphs to use a place names at our Egyptian Banquet to end the day.

The children are particularly proud of their work and enjoyed painting the sarcophagus and jewellery, but the banquet seemed to be the most popular of all. Here the children enjoyed a range of foods typical in Egyptian life from avocados to houmous as well as falafel and feta cheese. Tasting new and different flavours is something which the children particularly enjoy together with sharing their opinions with their class friends during the banquet.

A great day was had by all.

    Published 19/06/19

As a school we are always looking for ways we can increase and embed creative opportunities for learning.  Our Year 1 children enjoyed an Active Maths Lesson which involved a combination of Maths and physical activity.  The children had 15 Maths questions which were placed outside in the playground in various places.  Children had to find all 15 cards and work out the answers before returning to the classroom.

The children were fully engaged and the lesson was a huge success and was an enjoyable alternative to classroom based learning.  We hope to have many more Active Maths Lessons in the future across the school.
