London Zoo

This half term, Year 5 have explored the natural world across the curriculum including through our Reading text 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell which was also the focus of our narrative writing this term.

We also continued this exploration of the natural world through our non-fiction Writing unit, a biography on the naturalist David Attenborough and our final narrative of the term based on 'Zoo' by Anthone Browne. This is linked to our learning in our Science units 'Living things and their habitats' and 'Animals including humans. Our learning was tied together with a trip to the final week to London Zoo where children were able to take a closer look at some of the animals we have been learning about and debate the benefits and disadvantages of zoos on the natural world.
