  • Christmas Jumper Day

    Children and staff at William Byrd swapped their uniforms and suits for festive jumpers to help raise money for Save the Children on Christmas Jumper Day.  The school’s corridors and classrooms were brightened up with colourful jumpers featuring Rudolph, elves, Santa Clause and snowmen.  Everyone truly got into holiday mode and the day is always a great way to round off the term whilst raising money for such a worthwhile cause.  Thank you to everyone for your kind donations.

  • Nursery Christmas Fun Day

    Thank you to everyone that attended our fantastic Nursery Fun Day on Friday 13th December for parents/carers.  

    Children started the session by singing festive songs, which they performed beautifully. Parents/carers were then given the opportunity to participate in various Christmas activities with their child including making: Christmas cards, candle jars, festive calendars, Christmas wreaths and much more!  

    At the end of the session everyone received a gift made by the children.  A great time was had by all.

  • Christmas Lunch

    On Thursday 12th December William Byrd celebrated Christmas with a Christmas Lunch.  To get everyone into the festive mood we played Christmas songs throughout lunchtime, our kitchen staff dressed up as Santa's elves and of course everyone enjoyed opening a Christmas cracker with their friends.

    Thank you to all of the catering staff who prepared, once again, a wonderful lunch for all the children and staff at William Byrd.  Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Year 5 Carol Singing in Asda

    On Thursday 12th December all our Year 5 children were invited to our local Asda store in Hayes to spread the Christmas cheer by singing carols for the customers.  Our children sang beautifully and the response was fantastic. We managed to raise £120 for our school!

  • Christmas Performances

    Thank you to everyone that joined us at our Christmas Performances this year to celebrate the festive season. 

    This year we had several Christmas performances from Monday 9th December to Thursday 12th December.   Year 1 and 2 performed a Christmas Sing-A-Long and Reception performed the Toy Shop.

  • Christmas Fair

    The Christmas Fair this year was a huge success! The carols were on and there was a festive cheer throughout the event.  This year each year group designed their very own game and each one was a hit with the children and adults! 

    Reception - Pop the Bauble
    Year 1 - Snowball Throw
    Year 2 - Christmas Imagination
    Year 3 - Snowman Match
    Year 4 - Cakes & Shortbread/Coconut Shy
    Year 5 - Stick the nose on Rudolph

    As well as this there were many stalls, including: tombola, toys, food store, toiletries and much much more.  

    Thank you to all the families for all their generous donations; Thank you to all the staff, pupils and volunteers that helped at the fair and finally thank you all for attending!

    The fair serves not only to raise much needed funds, but also to further bind our school community together and do something fun and magical for the children.  We thank you for your continuous support.

  • Jason Robinson OBE Visits Year 3

    Rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE, who was the only try-scorer in the England Rugby World Cup final 2003, visited our school to spend a day of fun sports with our Year 3 children. 

    Jason was accompanied by his team along with members from Heathrow and Balfour Beatty.  The children and adults all had a fun time playing various games despite the cold weather.

    At the end of their sports session each child was presented with a sports certificate and a rucksack with a water bottle which the children took home.  As well as this the school was given a huge amount of sports equipment courtesy of Heathrow and Balfour Beatty. 

    A huge thank you to Jason and his team for taking the time out and visiting our children and Heathrow and Balfour Beatty for their generosity.

  • Santa Visits our School

    Santa came to visit the children at William Byrd on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd December.  Children queued up to see Santa in his grotto over the two days for a friendly chat and a special gift from Santa himself!

    Santa gave the children an extra treat by letting the children play in the massive snow globe as part of their visit.

    The children were thrilled and had a fantastic time.  We look forward to seeing Santa again next year.
