Design Technology

In Design Technology lessons, children have been using their creativity and imagination to design and make creative products.

Children in Early Years made moving snails and umbrellas and our Year 1 children explored how to use mechanisms [wheels and axles] in their car designs. Year 2 built beach hut structures and explored how they can be made stronger, stiffer and more stable. In Year 3, children designed robots and electrical systems and Year 4 learned how to use levers and pulleys in their drawbridges. Year 5 have been examining architecture, designing their own buildings and developing their understanding of how key individuals in design and technology across time have helped shape the world. Finally, in Year 6, children designed and made clothes and pencil cases from fabrics, choosing them according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities.
