STEM Challenge: Build It!
Every half term, all the children who have earned 100 or more dojos take part in a reward activity to celebrate their success. We have had board game sessions, movie afternoons, and baking class previously this year. On Tuesday, Ms. Preston led the children in a STEM Challenge: Build It!
Children were shown pictures of world famous sites and buildings, then given the following materials and 40 minutes to recreate these:
- Lego and string
- Junk modelling/recycling
- Plastic cups
- Marshmallows and Toothpicks
Children as young as 5 and as old as 11 demonstrated cooperation, resilient, creativity, planning skills and even time management. The winning designs even earned a prize! Look out world, future architects are to be found here at William Byrd!
